How to Use This Template

Conduct Business Impact Analysis

Interview business unit owners to identify critical functions, acceptable downtime (RTO), and data loss tolerance (RPO). Document dependencies and resources needed for recovery.

Develop Recovery Strategies

For each critical function, define how operations will continue during disruptions. Include alternate work locations, backup systems, manual workarounds, and third-party support.

Test Your Plan Regularly

Schedule annual tabletop exercises and biannual technical DR tests. Use the provided scenarios to simulate disruptions. Document lessons learned and update procedures.

Maintain & Update Continuously

Review the plan quarterly and update after major changes (new systems, org changes, infrastructure). Keep contact lists current and verify backup systems monthly.
